The Client
Hill and Knowlton the Public Relations company came to Answerthink (then Think
New Ideas) seeking a website for the BT Global Challenge a round the world yacht
race sponsored by British Telecom. The website would be primarily aimed the
The Project
Created without clear brief from the client who changed three times during the
three month project. Through careful anticipation of client expectations and BT
web guidelines the project nevertheless ran relatively smoothly and within budget.
The Politics
For Answerthink, the project was something of a political 'hot potato', after
a period of over 6 months during which the project had stalled, I was brought
in to manage the project on the basis of my success in turning round a similarly
difficult project for Du Pont.
The Outcome
The site was launched on time to coincide with a fixed date offline marketing
and PR launch. A banner advertising campaign across the major financial portals
and e-magazines.
